NWIPA Statement of Accessibility

The Northwest Indiana Paddling Association strives to make Northwest Indiana the most accessible region in the world for paddlesports accessibility. Together with our wonderful partners, we have more accessible canoe and kayak launches than any place in a given geographic region in the entire world.  We believe that water is the great equalizer where someone who may have a disability can participate fully in paddle sports such as canoeing and kayaking. Accessible launches as well assistance from NWIPA volunteers is available at most of our events with the goal to one day make it possible at all of our events. Additionally, NWIPA has two American Canoe Association endorsed Universal Paddling (formerly Adaptive Paddling) instructors that work to help train and promote universal paddling opportunities. For more information on Universal Paddling with NWIPA, please contact Dan Plath.
